    Position: Fusion Coordinator

    College: ERC

    Year: Senior

    Major: Dance & Psychology

Q: What is your first significant memory of MASA?

Car adventures in SD. Somehow, I always end up getting lost with people in our car ride over to go get food or to be at a certain event. We always end up laughing the entire way over.where you’d goIf I could go anywhere, I would definitely want to go visit Spain or Italy for their food and rich history.

Q: How did you join MASA?

During my freshman year, I went to kF workshops to learn how to dance and that hooked me in. I became a part of FUSION staff after that. So through kF practices and FUSION flyering, I met a lot of MASA GBM’ers, staff, and upperclassmen. From then on, I got to know them. They invited me to play games, go out to eat, have the most random, but awesome adventures of my life, and they taught me a lot about life and food in general.

Q: What is your favorite childhood game?

Easy, Mario Kart Double Dash. I kill people with my red shells. DK Mountain is my favorite course. And I’m down to play anytime.

Q: What is MASA to you?

MASA to me is this one huge potluck of a family. You may get different types of people into MASA each year, but they’re always so heartwarming and welcoming to everyone even it is tough love.

Q: What is your favorite memory of MASA?

There are too, too many favorite memories with MASA, but if I had to choose, it shall always be FUSION. I get to bond and stress with so many incredible people through flyering and staff meetings. And to be able to put on such a huge production so that performers can have the opportunity to dance out their heart and passion on that FUSION stage is just so rewarding.

    College: ERC

    Year: Senior

    Major: Management Science

Q: What is your favorite MASA memory?

MASA is the family I found here at UCSD. MASA pushes me to keep on improving myself, teaches me how to love freely, and continues to place friends in my life that make life that much more enjoyable. I am grateful for every year I’ve been able to spend with this amazing group of people.

Q: What was your craziest experience?

One particularly hot summer day, some MASA people and I decided to hike up to Potato Chip Rock. We all ran out of water by the time we started heading back down during the hottest part of the day (which also happened to be one of the hottest days during that summer), my shoes were horrible so my feet felt like falling off, and the struggle was real. If it wasn’t for one of the park rangers who picked us up in his vehicle, I don’t know if I could have made it all the way back. I was literally dying. I also ended up losing both of my toenails on my two big toes. Yeah. I’m not a hiking type of person.

Q: If you could be a food, what food would you be?

Sushi. I would never be tired of being sushi because there are so many varieties! It’ll be like I’m a tasty shape shifter!!!

Q: What is the first thing you notice when you look at someone?

    Their hair!

Q: Where is your favorite study spot?

This is my “secret” but I really like the Treehouse lounge and Sun God lounge. They’re close by to a lot of places but not too many people go there so it’s pretty quiet. They all have free desktops to use too :D

Q: What is your favorite MASA memory?

One of my favorite memories with MASA is our yearly winter trip to Big Bear, living together in a cabin for a few days, snowboarding the slopes all day and relaxing and bonding all night!

Q: If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

If I could go anywhere, I’d go everywhere. I’d go somewhere and just keep going.. I want to see the world! Korea this past summer has left me with wanderlust.

    Q: What is your hobby?

I play Super Smash Bros. Melee competitively. Board games, anime, and electronic music are some of my other interests.

Q: What is your favorite childhood game?

My favorite childhood game was MapleStory ughhh so many hours dumped into that game x__x I even made maplestory videos, which is how I got into video editing.

    Name: Kenny Nieh

    Position: Public Relations

    College: John Muir College

    Year: Sophomore

Major: Cognitive Science with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction

Q: What is your favorite childhood show?

DIGIMON! I mean, I loved watching Dragon Tales and Pokemon as a child, but Digimon was by far the coolest to me in terms of the concepts, the artwork, the action and the plot. I still have the first Digimon movie in VCR at home, and I still love watching it!

Q: What is a skill you are proud of?

I’m actually proud of my ability to whistle. I love whistling all sorts of songs and melodies and at times I even practice my whistling, from increasing my pitch range to perfecting my technique and tone and other cool things like vibrato or dynamics. On the other hand, I wish I was a beast at the violin. I think it’d be awesome playing jazz on it and improvising with friends, or playing some crazy concertos and other pieces like Bach’s Chaconne!

Q: What is your favorite memory with MASA?

Every moment’s great with MASA, so it’s hard to pick out my favorite. But there is one moment that’s one of the more memorable ones, which is performing on Fusion stage for the first time. It was a moment where I saw all my hard work over the last school year—everything from the endless hours of dance practice to the months spent planning and preparing for the Fusion event—come to fruition. The moment you step on that stage, you’re instantly hit with awe at the vastness of the audience, exhilaration from the echoes and reverberations of the crowds cheering, and just pure fun living in the moment and dancing to the beat of the music. where you’d goHonestly, I would go anywhere as long as I’ll be given the opportunity to eat delicious foods. However, I’d have a high preference for Hong Kong, China or South Korea, since I’ve heard all these things about how great yet cheap their food is. I’m drooling just thinking of all the foods I could eat.

Q: Tell us your favorite joke!

What did the fish say when he hit a concrete wall? DAMMMMMMMMMMMMM

    Name: Allen Young

    Position: Membership

    College: Sixth

    Year: Sophomore

    Major: Bioengineering Bioinformatics

Q: How did you join MASA?

My freshman year I went to Muir dance and made a friend. Later on, we went out to eat at the Bistro and he convinced me to join MASA since I was not active in any other orgs and I thought it would create many opportunities for me to make a lot of friends.

Q: Where is your favorite study spot?

My favorite study spot is my room because I have a fridge that keeps me company and helps me get through the stress from studying. I usually get sidetracked when I eat and I am not very productive. Since I love food and my fridge gives me easy access to it, my room is my favorite study spot.

Q: What was your favorite childhood game?

My favorite childhood video games were the entire Kingdom Hearts series. The main character, Sora, gets to travel through all the Disney worlds and helps others out with their problems while he is on his mission to find King Mickey. His weapon, a keyblade, is freaken awesome because it destroys all the heartless creatures and there are so many cool looking keyblades he can use! Sora can change forms, cast magic with his keyblade, as well as summon other characters he encountered in his past. I love Disney too so that makes me love this game more!!

Q: What is the first thing you look at when you meet someone?

If I look at a guy, the first thing that I look at is the definition of their arms. I ask myself, on a scale from 1-10, how sexy is he? He must go to the gym x amount of days in the week. If I look at a girl, the first thing I look at is either their hair or their face. After, I either think dang she takes care of herself well, or she’s just alright.

Q: What would MASA be if MASA were an object?

If MASA were an object, it would be a hot pot. It’s like America except you have noodle soup ingredients instead of different types of bread in America’s bread basket.

Q: Tell us your favorite joke!

What do you call a fat psychic? A four chin teller! (Hahahaha)

    Position: Community Service

    College: Revelle

    Year: Sophomore

    Major: International Studies-Economics

Q: What would MASA be if MASA were an object?

Masa would be that one colorful spinning disco ball type
thing, because not only is great to have at parties, but
also, it has many different types of colors to make it pretty
and also, is bright enough to show you around :D

Q: Where is your favorite study spot?

Favorite study spot would have to be Khue’s apartment,
cause there’s always cooking going on, nice atmosphere, a
lot of the apartment stays up with me, also I have a lot of
classes with her apartment mates. Plus, it’s nice and cozy
and the couch is nice to sleep on!

Q: What is one skill you are proud of?

I’m proud of my violin playing. After learning and playing for almost 10
years, that instrument gets attached to you. However, I do wish I could
sing. I would be like Henry Lau then!

Q: What is your favorite memory with MASA?

It would have to be performing on stage at FUSION with Kunfusion. The
lights, the screams, and the overwhelming feels. It was a lot going on!

Q: What is the craziest thing that ever happened to you?

Uhhhhhh, when I was in the second grade, I crashed into a
girl, and apparently her teeth or something went into my
eyebrow. So next thing I know, I reach up to touch it, and
there’s like a huge gash and a lot of blood is coming down
    ;_;

Q: What is a quality you look up to in others?

A quality I definitely look up in someone Is how caring they can be. And by caring, this includes selflessness, friendliness, all bundled up in one. They are willing to look out for you, and be nice to you, and make
you feel all warm inside :)
